Square Roots Productions presents… BOUND FOR GLORY: A celebration of the music of Woody Guthrie

Woody Guthrie died 50 years ago today, his pen and his guitar already long-silenced by the tragedy of Huntingdon’s disease. He wrote “This Land is Your Land”, America’s second national anthem, and he chronicled the lives of the Dust Bowl refugees, the migrant workers, the assembly line workers fighting for union rights – and a song castigating his grasping landlord, one Fred Trump. “Some rob you with a six-gun, some with a fountain pen” , Guthrie wrote 70 years ago – and it sums up our own times. Young artists – including Virginia Thorn, The Tinlins and Harry Phillips – offer their interpretations of songs that continue to inspire us all.
