We are all in the basement, but some of us are looking up at the stars… Stargazing is all about spotting those stellar new artists and giving them a place to shine each month. Expect some unlikely constellations where talent might be the only thing they have in common. And all from the subterranean comfort of the charming Green Note basement.

Tonight featuring Cesca + Martha Bailey

CESCA
Cesca are a modern jazz trio formed in 2014 featuring a line-up of electric guitar, drums and keyboards. The trio’s second EP, released in September 2016 a year after the first, encapsulates the breadth and progression of their sound from ambient electronics through to hard-hitting, driving grooves. Having performed at a number of venues in London in their first few years, Cesca are looking ahead to gigs at the Cambridge and London Jazz Festivals at the end of 2016.

MARTHA BAILEY
Martha Bailey is a contemporary folk musician and singer-songwriter from rural Oxfordshire, UK, now living and performing in London. Drawing comparisons with The Staves, Billie Marten, Joni Mitchell and Laura Marling, Martha has recently released her debut EP, ‘A Different Time’, and is establishing herself on the London circuit.
‘This is what acoustic singer songwriters need to be doing. Her vocal is pure, her lyrics poetic, and her entire sound is simply delightful.’ Ear to the Ground Music
