‘..outstanding, Payne is exceptionally soulful, with a storyteller’s gift for immersing herself in the tales she’s telling’. ‘ All About Jazz.
“One of the finest soul and jazz singers that the UK has produced in the past two decades” ★★★★ BBC ONLINE Kevin Le Gendre
‘Wonderfully skewed, stripped down, and psychedelic’ ★★★★ MOJO

Adam Beattie and the Consultants have a long standing association with New Roots. Beattie ploughs a similar furrow to Tom Waits and Nick Cave’s downtempo work, noir folk blues with a dark edge and a big heart that never fails to move an audience. You’ll hear traces of old-time jazz, swing and parlour songs in his sound, now abstracted to a sharper, darker and more modern jazz influenced setting by his band of piano, upright bass and drums.
