“Warm, deep singer-songwriters who have drank from the well of 20th century tradition” – Folk Radio UK

A DIFFERENT THREAD weaves together elements of 70s’ folk revival, piedmont blues, and country, to create an authentic Americana sound.  Alicia Best (from Durham, North Carolina) and Robert Jackson (from Lichfield, Staffordshire) originally formed as a duo after winning the Shrewsbury Folk Festival open mic competition in 2017 and swiftly went on to land features with NPR and the BBC radio. Since then they have garnered a loyal following across the UK, Europe, USA, and Central America.

Their blend of intimate, raw vocals with atmospheric instrumentation is reminiscent of Gillian Welch and Dave Rawlings, and Linda and Richard Thompson, with echoes of Johnny Cash and June Carter.  As poets and travellers at heart, A Different Thread’s lyrics deal with love, loss, reckoning, and the call of the open road.
