English singer/songwriter Amy Hollinrake first drew praise in 2016 for her debut EP ‘Fade into This’ with Backwater Records, which drew comparisons to Mazzy Star and Sandy Denny.
With a mostly acoustic setup, composing on her Mountain Dulcimer, Amy draws on folk songs fused with original ideas, to create a unique contemporary sound that breathes new life into traditional stories. Accompanied by her band, she finds subtle synergies between acoustic instruments and washing synth textures, weaving through jazz inflected rhythms.
Based in South-East London she combines influences close to home and further afield. Her songwriting, described as both cryptic and emotionally direct, draws on her influence and affinity with women’s experience presented in folklore, poetry and literature. Dubbed at her The Harrison, London debut gig as ‘making you consider the words in a different way. She has an absolutely captivating voice, one that raises the hairs on the neck and makes you want to listen all night’.
Doors open 7pm. Music starts 8.30pm. The venue is mixed seated and standing. Tables are limited, and available on a first come first served basis, so if you’d like a seat, we recommend arriving early!
