Jazz @ Green Note presents… BEN LEE QUINTET + CHRIS WHITER QUINTET

The BEN LEE QUINTET plays eclectic music drawing on wide ranging influences from rock and funk through to experimental music and more. Featuring Chris Young on alto sax, Kieran McLeod on trombone, David Ferris on organ, Euan Palmer on drums and Ben Lee on guitar, this band has its debut album out on Stoney Lane Records, coupled with a nationwide tour in 2017.
‘For me the most eye catching soloist was Lee who played with power, precision and astonishing technical prowess as he explored the conventional range of his instrument and beyond…’  Ian Mann – The Jazz Mann

An emerging talent on the jazz scene, CHRIS WHITER has already been listed as ‘one to look out for’ in Jazzwise magazine. Chris’s layering of instrumental textures and rhythmic patterns has become a trademark of his compositions, with works being featured at the BBC Proms and Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club. He has performed at top UK venues and international jazz festivals (Montreux, Vienne, North Sea), and in 2014 he won a place on the Metropole Orchestra Arrangers’ Workshop, working with renowned composer Vince Mendoza, and Grammy award winning vocalist Gregory Porter.

‘Whiter and Sam miles are a tight saxophone duo, harmonizing on intricate melody lines, then splitting apart to go on individual journeys’ – Phil Freeman (The Wire, Jazziz)

‘A hot prospect’ – John Fordham (The Guardian)
