Black Cat Music presents… JAMES HODDER as part of the Black Cat in the Basement series

London based troubadour James Hodder fuses Folk and Americana influences with bittersweet lyrics and storytelling on his debut album ‘In The Beginning’.

In 2014 James recorded his debut EP ‘Lost At Sea’ at a farmhouse in Lancashire. Over the next few years he continued to write songs and began developing his craft on the live circuit including performances at London’s iconic Green Note, Aces And Eights in Finsbury Park, Birmingham’s Glee Club and regular appearances at The Icarus Club in Greenwich and Blackheath. He shared stages with respected songwriters such as Dean Owens, Jarrod Dickenson, Cleo T, Nashville’s Don Gallardo, Dan Whitehouse and legendary pedal steel player BJ Cole, all the while growing his audience and collecting new stories.

In late 2016 James prepared to enter the studio to record his debut album and enlisted the help of acclaimed engineer Dan Cooper of Rodel Sound. The songs were recorded in just two days and featured performances from local friends and musicians Pete Shaw (bass), Beth Reid (vocals) and Johnny Boy James (harmonica).

James has a new album out soon.
