Dolomite is the fifth release in vocalist and composer MADDALENA GHEZZI‘s Minerals series. This work is a collaboration with bassist, vocalist, composer and environmentalist RUTH GOLLER (International Anthem). Both linked to the Dolomites mountain range, Ruth and Maddalena reckon with themes around climate change, nature and healing spaces. This is a water journey through a changing landscape. Dolomite is supported by women hiking brand LaMunt and innovative sustainability project Vaia.

At Green Note Ghezzi and Goller will launch Dolomite EP with an opening set by Anything Pointless.

Maddalena Ghezzi is a London based singer, composer and improviser. Her voice was described as “ethereal” and her approach as “giving the sensation of something ancient but also otherworldly” by JazzWise Magazine. Ghezzi has released four EPs as part of her series Minerals that feature on BBC Radio, Jazz In Europe and Bonafide Magazine. Dolomite with Ruth Goller is her most recent chapter in what she defines as an experiment in storytelling that aims to “let go of the obsession with single protagonism”. (Brit Marling). Maddalena collaborates with Maria Chiara Argirò and Anything Pointless and has performed alongside Matana Roberts, Liam Noble, Neville Malcom, Hammadi Valdes, Miryam Solomon, Simone Baron and Maurizio Ravalico.
Hailed by the Guardian for her “thunderous bass-guitar hooks”, Ruth Goller is a bassist, vocalist, composer, environmentalist and solo artist. Goller helped lay the foundation for the UK’s jazz renaissance, from her years on stage with Acoustic Ladyland and Melt Yourself Down, to more recently Let Spin and Vula Viel, whilst performing and recording with the likes of Shabaka Hutchings, Mercury-Award nominee Kit Downes, Sam Amidon, Bojan Z, Marc Ribot, Rokia Traoré, and Paul McCartney.
Intimate voice and bass guitar entwine in Goller’s debut album, ‘Skylla’, exhibiting a confidence that reflects her experience at the vanguard of the European jazz scene. Her second release Skyllumina is out on International Anthem. As ECM Reviews put it, Goller “unravel(s) an intimacy so deep it (feels) almost blasphemous to be privy to its wonders.”
Support from ANYTHING POINTLESS, an expansive and uncompromising experimental producer from Turin and now based in London. He delivers bright and glassy sound-art landscapes and makes use of granular technology to expand, stretch and move digital air in unexpected ways. Like many intriguing artists, just when you feel you might have understood the process it takes you on new and exciting turns.

Doors open 7pm. Music starts 8.30pm. The venue is mixed seated and standing. Tables are limited and available on a first come first served basis so, if you’d like a seat, we recommend arriving early!
