Margo Buchanan was born in Lanark, Scotland and when she was twelve moved to Derby then Coventry. She has lived in London since 1982.

She left school and joined her first band at 15. She then moved to Coventry, where she was offered a job with the Specials if she dyed her hair blonde. She declined, and regretted it for years.

She signed a record deal as a solo artist with MCA records but found the experience unsatisfying.

Thinking all she needed was a label change, she signed to London records but it was the same scenario there, so she decided she needed to write her own songs. To support the endeavour, Margo put herself up for session work, which she absolutely loved and which soon became a substantial part of her career. It has lasted over 25 years – a lot longer than she intended!

She has recorded and performed with many artists, including Joni Mitchell, Eric Clapton, Pink Floyd, Jools Holland, Billy Idol, Mark Knopfler, , Seal, Tina Turner, Daryl Hall, Steve Marriot, Phil Collins, Joe Cocker etc. On one memorable occasion she even sang with Spinal Tap! Recent artists she has supported are David Gilmour, Joe Walsh, Paul Rodgers, Jo Cocker, Van Morrison, Robert Plant, Paul Weller, Corrine Bailey Rae, James Blunt and KT Tunstall, Suggs, Ward Thomas.
She performed at both HM Queen Elizabeth’s Golden Jubilee Concert at Buckingham Palace and the Princess Diana Memorial Concert at Wembley Stadium. and recently performed solo with an 85 piece orchestra at the Royal Albert Hall.

Her first album is entitled “I Should Have Done This Years Ago”. Self-penned and recorded with wonderful musicians the album has received excellent reviews.
