New Roots presents…
MIKE NISBET, a seasoned Scottish artist, has navigated a remarkable 16-year musical journey. Hailing from Scotland’s West coast, his evolution spans a pop-punk past to a much-respected singer-songwriter present. Influenced by Tom Waits, Randy Newman, and Nick Cave, Nisbet crafts dark, modern narratives on guitar and piano.
Nisbet’s fourth album ‘Get Dead’ showcases his mastery as a multi-instrumentalist and storyteller. Themes of mortality run through the album, with each track offering introspective journeys guided by emotive storytelling. Scotland On Sunday hails him as Scotland’s most exciting new talent, while Music News praises his folk, blues, and Americana-infused stories.
Support comes from ALLISON MAREEK, a multicultural singer and songwriter descendent of Mediterranean roots blended with a French grandmother and upbringing. Now based in London, her sound lives where soulful melodies meet jazz standards and minimalist pop production.
NEW ROOTS is committed to promoting events that shine a light on up and coming talent in the UK alt-folk and contemporary roots music scene. It’s committed to providing artists with an environment that is sympathetic to what they do, giving musicians the respect they and their music deserve – for this reason we ask for no talking and no use of mobile phones while artists are performing. Our music policy comes from the kitchen table, the roots of public performance- intimate, acoustic based, high quality musicianship with as little interference between performer and listener as possible.
