This is one of the most successful packages ever toured by the Brookfield-Knights music agency – a perfect-match double bill that had audiences and reviewers raving when they last toured here together in late 2022. There were sold-out shows across the country. Writing at AmericanaUK, live reviews editor, Paul Kerr wrote: “It was a fantastic night.”
When hot Paris-based all-girl trio, Fierce Flowers, issued their Mirador album in 2020, it had stimulated a frenzy of media interest that resulted in a huge amount of exposure in the UK. Julia Zech’s vocals featured strongly and she had written a large number of the album’s killer tracks. When differences led to a split, she reverted to focussing all of her attention on this Cologne-based outfit, with whom she had performed with playing partner Pierce Black, for several years.
STEREO NAKED’s most recent album, “Unseen Course”, won a huge amount of exposure in the UK. BBC Radio 2’s Mark Radcliffe told listeners: “I do like this music!” AmericanaUK predicted: “This album will establish them as your new favourite band.”
They will bring a full five-piece line-up to the UK to launch a brand new album entitled “Upside Down“ at Celtic Connections, and two of those band members, Pepita Emmerichs (Oh Pep!) and Theodore Barnard (Wire & Wool), also established as the knock-‘em-dead duo, RAIN OF ANIMALS, will open the show. As World-roving troubadors, this richly euphonious collaboration between Pepita and Theo grew from their love of all things mandolin, fiddle, guitar, harmony vocals, bluegrass, old-time and swing. They too have a new album coming in 2024.
Doors open 7pm. Music starts 8.30pm. The venue is mixed seated and standing. Tables are limited and available on a first come first served basis so, if you’d like a seat, we recommend arriving early!
