Jazz @ Green Note presents… Simon Woolf Quintet feat. Chris Cheek
Bassist Simon Woof presents his special band featuring the New York based saxophonist Chris Cheek.
Chris Cheek has toured and recorded with Paul Motian, Charlie Haden’s Liberation Music Orchestra, The Bloomdaddies, and the Orquestra de Jazz de Matosinhos . Chris has also played with Bill Frisell, Brian Blade, Lee Konitz, Carla Bley, Tom Harrell, Wolfgang Muthspiel, Frank Carlberg, Eliot Zigmund, Brad Mehldau, Kurt Rosenwinkel, El Muchacho and many others.
Recently featured alongside leading players from all over the world at the “Bass 2012” convention in Copenhagen, Simon Woolf is a lyrical double-bassist in the tradition of his great idol, Red Mitchell. Simon Woolf has enjoyed long associations with leading UK jazz artists Andy Panayi, Mark Nightingale, Geoff Simkins, Dave Cliff, Peter Jacobsen, Bobby Wellins and been heard accompanying such US jazz greats as Benny Golson, Harry Allen, Grant Stewart, John Colianni, Ruby Braff, George van Eps & Howard Alden.
