A very special evening of eclectic, contemporary folk as Charlie Dore, one of the UK’s most respected songwriters teams up with virtuoso 5 string double bass player Gareth Huw Davies to share songs from her double-award-winning album, Dark Matter. Charlie swaps between guitars, harmonium, ukulele, piano and autoharp while Gareth, who has played with everyone from Chrissie Hind & Mark Eitzel to Sir Willard White also plays cello and keyboards. They’ll dip into favourites from the past 6 albums as well as sharing stories and original acoustic versions of hits Charlie has written for others, including George Harrison and Jimmy Nail.
“An amazingly astute, moving, intelligent and connected songwriter…a voice like Kate McGarrigle meets Dory Previn. Wonderful.” Mike Harding

Support from Copper Viper:
COPPER VIPER is an acoustic folk duo from London, comprised of prolific songwriter and guitarist Robin Joel Sangster and fiddle/mandolin player Duncan Menzies. Drawing inspiration from the British folk and American country/bluegrass traditions, Copper Viper’s music marries haunting melodies and intricate vocal harmonies with searing instrumental passages to create a stylistic blend that is at once familiar and unique.

The group recently recorded their debut album “Cut It Down, Count The Rings” at Bear Creek Studio in Woodinville WA, USA with platinum-selling producer Ryan Hadlock (The Lumineers, Brandi Carlile). Mastered by Grammy-winning engineer Gavin Lurssen (“O Brother, Where Art Thou?” Soundtrack, Robert Plant & Alison Krauss), the album flows smoothly between lyrical ballads and foot-stomping barn-stormers, mixing melancholy, hope, tension and joy in equal measure.
