EDWARD WAKILI HICK is a drummer and producer who has worked across genres with various artists including Roots Manuva, Congo Natty and David Liebman. Inspired by the ‘multi-directional’ concept of John Coltrane, Nache is his multi-directional project encompassing both production and live band, a natural expression of his musical experiences so far. For the London Jazz Festival he brings a roots trio looking into the future, clashing with a sampler, exploring the idea of humans vs machine.

ALEXANDRA RIDOUT won the the BBC Young Musician Jazz Award in 2016 and has since appeared as featured soloist on flugelhorn with the Euroradio Jazz Orchestra’s performances of Kenny Wheeler’s ‘Sweet Sister Suite’ which was broadcast by the BBC across the EU from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Other performance highlights include as part of the Clark Tracey Quintet, in the Cadogan Hall’s Kenny Wheeler tribute, and with superstar bassist Dave Holland at the House of Commons. She appears here with her quintet packed with emerging talent: Noah Stoneman (piano), Miles Mindlin (guitar), Freddie Jensen (bass) and Luca Caruso (drums).

‘Alexandra Ridout, just 17, showed her poise, shining tone, and instrumental command with an unaccompanied trumpet intro… obviously a player of huge promise’ – London Jazz News

‘She stood out because she connected with everybody. She gets it and I think rhythmically she was just streets ahead… It was beautiful’ – Julian Joseph, BBC Radio 3
