MAURIZIO MINARDI: An electrifying trio led by pianist/accordionist Maurizio Minardi with Shirley Smart on cello and Nick Pini on Bass. Weaving together jazz, folk and minialist classical music – together with some breathtaking tangos this will be an evening of sublime and interesting music.
Maurizio Minardi moved to London from Italy in 2008., and has since established himself as a leading pianist and accordionist on the jazz scene. He performs regularly with many artists including Antonio
Forcione, Carmen Souza, Royal Shakespeare Company, Melange ensemble, Georgia Mancio, Gabrielle Ducomble as well as leading his own Quartet.
Maurizio has played at many festivals in the UK and Europe, including the Kings Place Festival (UK), Rye International Festival, Hull Jazz Festival, (UK) Acordeoes do Mundo (PT), Caldas Nice Jazz (PT), Umbria Jazz (IT) and at many venues including Pizza Express Jazz Club, the Royal Albert Hall Ignite Series, the National Theatre Foyer, upstairs at Ronnie Scott’s, the Apollo Hammersmith, the Vortex and Blue Note Poznan (PL). He has also performed on BBC London and Jazz FM.
Maurizio’s style is reminiscent of Nino Rota, Yann Tiersen, Rene Aubry and Michael Nyman.
