The intimate atmosphere of the Green Note will provide a unique setting for a very special double bill of duos featuring four musicians at the leading edge of the country’s jazz scene.

Nathaniel Facey and Shane Forbes have a playing history that dates back to high school some 18 years ago. Their musical journeys have been shared for the most part, finding them playing together in Tomorrow’s Warriors, the Abram Wilson group, and the MOBO award-winning Empirical. Over almost two decades of making music together these musicians have developed a unique relationship both off and on the bandstand. In this new duo project, they play all original compositions which allow them the space and freedom to exercise their musical telepathy with one another, and to display their perspectives on music aesthetically, socially, and most of all spiritually.

Vibraphonist Corey Mwamba and pianist Robert Mitchell, two genuine heavyweights of the British jazz scene, need no introduction. They combine originals with extended improvisations and unique versions of jazz standards.

‘Improvised duet from two talented performers – with pianist Mitchell’s astute percussive attack matching Mwamba’s multi-instrumental layers – taken to new levels with his use of vibes and dulcimer on breathtakingly delicate and inventive reworkings of standards with almost limitless improv possibilities’ – TimeOut

‘Whatever their material, they intertwined and struck sparks off each other with the sort of spontaneous brio and pep that characterises the format at its best (think Gary Burton with Chick Corea or Makoto Ozone)’ – Chris Parker
