THIS SHOW IS TAKING PLACE IN OUR HOME FROM HOME FOR THE EVENING – THE CAMDEN CLUB.

KIRSTEN ADAMSON: Singer/songwriter Kirsten Adamson (daughter of rock legend Stuart Adamson (Big Country, Skids)) summons the same heart-stopping purity as Sandy Denny, by way of Emmylou Harris and Kate Bush. Since spending summers soaking up the atmosphere in Nashville with her dad, and singing on Big Country’s Driving To Damascus album, Kirsten has been steadily developing her own voice and songwriting, with indie folkers Aberfeldy, country rockers The Gillyflowers and Americana duo The Marriage.

Her second solo album Landing Place (2023) is a glorious powerhouse of emotionally charged, beautifully delivered songs that bustles and glistens with echoes of folk rock and country gems. It was launched at Glasgow’s Celtic Connections, an official showcase at London’s UK Americana Music Festival and a sold out UK tour in April.
Adamson is joined by her dynamic band for this special show. Dave Burn (bass), Scott Forsyth (drums) and Jon Mackenzie (electric guitar) are drawn together by their love of harmonies and old-time Americana providing the perfect outfit for Adamson’s country/folk style.

ORPHAN COLOURS
: Llewellyn and Noah & The Whale guitarist Fred Abbott met whilst he was in the midst of auditioning lead singers for his solo project and the two found common ground in their appreciation of Tom Petty and Jason Isbell. When Abbott heard Llewellyn’s demo’s for the new Orphan Colours project he immediately signed up.

The band have some impressive credentials with Llewellyn and Burn having already honed their songwriting craft during their tenure with ahab, who swiftly built a reputation as an unmissable live act after their performance at the Cropredy Festival 2010. That performance paved the way for a collaboration with legendary producer John Leckie and being championed by BBC 2 DJ ‘Whispering’ Bob Harris. The band went on to play many successful tours in UK, Denmark, Germany and Australia as well as notable festivals; Bestival, Green Man, Wilderness and Board Masters amongst others.

Not to mention Abbott’s Noah & The Whale world tours and having played a number of notable shows, including The Royal Albert Hall, Coachella, Lollapoloza, Green Man and Glastonbury as well as appearing on shows such as the Late Show with David Letterman, Later… with Jools Holland and The Graham Norton Show

With gleaming commercial success, critical acclaim and rock solid underground credibility so firmly ensconced in their DNA, Orphan Colours have nothing to prove.

THE MARRIAGE: Brought together by a shared passion for song writing and a constantly overlapping and intertwined musical career, Americana duo, The Marriage embodies the beauty that can be achieved through the collaboration of two brilliant musical minds.

Kirsten and Dave have been surrounded by music their entire lives, with Dave first picking up a guitar at the age of 7 and being signed by a major label at 15 and Kirsten spending her Summers in Nashville with her father Stuart Adamson, founder of Skids and Big Country. Both have been playing in touring bands since their teens.

The name, ‘The Marriage’, For both Kirsten and Dave, whilst having many connotations, is more symbolic of their respective relationships with music. For each, music has come close to obsession as they have soldiered on despite the disappointment rife within the industry. Music represents their lives’ true loves and this is clearly evident in the compilations and deliveries of their songs.

Their intimate and eloquent lyrics weave stories of love, loss and life’s complexity and their powerful and flawless vocals compliment each other in beautifully intertwined harmonies that mesmerise the listener.

As in love, most of us trudge our way through a series of not- quite right relationships, all of which help us grow and adapt until we (hopefully), meet our perfect match. The Marriage is the perfect union of two incredible musical souls at the end of this journey.
