BABESSA CUBANA
When Greece meets Latin America…

Greece has always been captivated by the exoticism of  South America. From the 1940s onwards so many Greek songs are coloured and driven by the rhythms and sounds of Brazil, Cuba, Argentina and the other beautiful countries of this continent. Today, in this special matinée performance, we take Greek songs and “give the back” to their Latin roots. Fronted by Latin/jazz singer Andria Antoniou (Cyprus) , a group of musicians from Greece and South America bring us fresh takes on classic songs from all the eras…tango, bolero, salsa, son, bossa nova…it is all there. With Pavlos Carvalho (Brazil/Greece)-bouzouki/cello, Kostas Kopanaris(Greece)-percussion, George Stamatis ((Greece)-guitar and Jimmy Martinez (Cuba)-double bass/ectric bass.
