Charlie Dore And Michele Stodart – The Hundred Miles Tour

“Celestial in its elegance” – The Independent

“Stunning” – Folk Radio UK

With multiple awards between them, CHARLIE DORE and MICHELE STODART (of The Magic Numbers)’ first studio collaboration has already been hailed as “Heavenly” by FATEA. First meeting at an International Women’s Day concert in 2019, they realised how at ease they felt with each other and their songwriting partnership began.

Charlie and Michele have now created these exquisite live shows – drawing on their individual and combined songwriting and performing prowess. Both artists will be sharing the strongest, most engaging material from their respective solo careers as well as showcasing brand new collaborations written especially for this irresistible tour.

CHARLIE DORE is one of the UK’s most respected singer songwriters. In an unusually diverse career her songs have won two Ascap awards, an Ivor Novello nomination, both the Overall Grand and the Folk Prize from the International Acoustic Music Awards. Her 2017 album Dark Matter won both Album of the Year and Best Lyrics from the US Indie Acoustic Project, while this year her new album, Like Animals has just won her 2021’s FATEA Female Artist of the Year award. The album will be supported with live gigs over 2021-22, starting at Kings Place London 25/6/21 and continuing throughout 2022.

She has also worked as an actress in theatre, film, (the award-winning Ploughman’s Lunch, playing opposite Jonathan Pryce) TV, Radio with Eric Idle and co-founded London Comedy Impro venue, The Hurricane Club, performing alongside many comedy icons including Bill Bailey, Stuart Lee and Robin Williams.

While her own albums favour her more eclectic/roots leanings, she is one of a handful of UK writers to achieve success across many genres, defined by the range of artists to have recorded her songs, including Tina Turner, George Harrison, Celine Dion, Lisa Stansfield, Paul Carrack, Ricky Ross and Jimmy Nail, notching up along the way a UK No 1, a US No 4 and Top 10 hits in Italy, Germany and France. She has also composed for three BBC drama series and two films. Her own hit, Pilot of the Airwaves is still on Radio 2’s core playlist and a worldwide radio favourite.

Charlie continues writing for and with other artists and also enjoys mentoring emerging songwriters when she’s not recording or touring with her own band. She is currently writing ‘Background Noise’, as a series of essays about her life offstage.

MICHELE STODART is an award-winning solo artist, singer-songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. Best renowned as bassist, vocalist and co-songwriter of much-loved, double-platinum selling band, The Magic Numbers, with whom she continues to play regularly and tour world-wide.

Michele has always pursued her own writing alongside her band, and, after almost a decade of touring, she took some time out to record an album of her own songs: Wide-Eyed Crossing (2012), a southern-drenched journey into Americana country blues. She soon became known for her intimate, heart-wrenching live performances, gaining her recognition for her solo material and helping to establish her as an singer-songwriter in her own right. A few years later, she was signed by none other than Bjork’s record label, One Little Independent. A second solo album Pieces (2016) followed shortly after, receiving critical acclaim.

Michele’s skills as a songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and musical director has led to many collaborative projects with artists such Kathryn Williams, Billy Bragg, Natalie Imbruglia, David Ford, Ren Harvieu, Charlie Dore, David Kitt, O’Hooley & Tidow amongst many others.

In 2022, she received public recognition for her talent, when she was awarded the AMA-UK ‘Instrumentalist Of The Year’ award. Currently, Michele is working on her third solo album.
