A three-piece folk band playing a mixture of originals and traditionals, along with homegrown takes on more familiar ditties…
FOR FOLK SAKE! as a band appeared around St. Patrick’s Day, 2022 – an impromptu gig at a North London pub threw up the unappetising question “What’s the bandname?!”. Despite being newcomers to the London gigging circuit, these boys have been playing music with each other for considerably longer, honing their shared craft over the pandemic through a range of instruments before arriving at a formula proving popular for its uniqueness. Rõnãn plays guitar and vocals, with his Derry-accented bass-baritone being immediately recognisable as a trademark feature of the band. Sam can fill the room with his harmonica playing, while also providing extra versatility with the occasional guitar and vocals. Joe is the band’s secret weapon – his bodhrán (Irish drum) totally changes the feel of the music, setting the stage for the music to take any form it likes!
Young and hungry, For Folk Sake! have shown their stuff to audiences across London, and now come to the Basement Bar for a gig to remember. Sláinte!
