“The areas premier acoustic band” The Washingtonian
Furnace Mountain Band, named for a mountain near where all the members grew up, consists of some of the most innovative and gifted musicians in Virginia.
“A thrilling bluegrass romp that musicians of any musical extraction would be envious of”. – Blues Bunny
“This is infectious dancing music and begs to be heard”. – Paul Kerr, Round up Reviews
“This band stands out because there is a freshness about their playing that makes the music sound new and vibrant. “Furnace Mountain is more than qualified to be mentioned in the same breath as the Be-Good Tanyas, and in some areas, is significantly better. “The music has more drive and attack and could never be accused of being twee, something of which the Tanyas have sometimes been guilty.”. – Maverick magazine
“The American roots music motherlode just keeps producing treasure, none more winsome and exciting than this quartet who take their name from one of Virginia’s most prominent peaks and their repertoire largely from the old-time, bluegrass and folk ballad traditions. Combining unadorned, honest singing with fiddle tunes that evoke both keening bagpipes and lonesome train whistles, interlaced with brilliantly audacious mandolin breaks, Furnace Mountain sound like a marriage between Be-Good Tanyas and the best bits of Nickel Creek – except with true Appalachian soil caked onto their boots” – Rob Adams
Doors open 7pm. Music starts 8.30pm. The venue is mixed seated and standing. Tables are limited, and available on a first come first served basis, so if you’d like a seat, we recommend arriving early!
