JODIE MARIE: Jodie Marie will be playing a selection of songs from her three albums (Mountain EchoTrouble In Mind, and The Answer) & latest EP (Polar Night). This will be a rare and special matinee solo performance with three part harmonies from Rona MacGregor (Rona Mac), Daisy Borthwick (Daisy B) & Eline Brun (I See Rivers).

Jodie Marie is a singer songwriter from Pembrokeshire, Wales. She was signed to Decca Records in 2010, writing with former Suede guitarist/producer Bernard Butler and singer songwriter Ed Harcourt. Her debut album, Mountain Echo (2011 – Verve Records, Decca), was described by The Guardian as ‘velvety and bittersweet’ and received much critical acclaim. Her sound was described by The Independent as ‘having a light-blues and jazz-folk-edge recalling late-1960s singer-songwriters such as Carole King’ on her second album, Trouble in Mind (2015 – Transgressive Records). She has featured on numerous occasions on BBC Radio 2, performed live on the Loose Ends show (BBC Radio 4), sang a duet live on Radio 2 with the band Train, and has supported the likes of Will Young, Nerina Pallot, Ben Howard, Callum Scott, Jamie Lawson, Jonathan Jeremiah, Jim Adkins (Jimmy Eat World), and Ed Harcourt.

Her third album, The Answer (2021 – Carmel Records – Caru Music Ltd) features singles, ‘Carageen’, ‘This House’ and ‘Ain’t No Doubt About It’, which has had A-list support from BBC Wales. It has been described by Welsh Connections as ‘a contemporary masterpiece’.

Her latest release, Polar Night (2023 – Carmel Records – Caru Music Ltd), was inspired by her time spending just over 3 weeks above the Arctic Cirlce in January 2023, isolated in a cabin on a remote island, surrounded by the beautiful landscape, extreme weather conditions and stories of the indigenous Sámi people. ‘This beautiful collection of atmospheric songs exemplifies just how far she has come since her debut in 2012′. – NewSoundWales.
