New Roots presents…

JOW is an acoustic instrumental cello and trumpet duo with a distinctive blend of jazz, folk and classical music. Trumpeter and multi-instrumentalist Pete Judge plays with BBC Jazz Award winners Get the Blessing and with acclaimed folk trio Three Cane Whale, amongst many other projects. He has recorded two solo piano projects and has performed with a huge array of artists, from Sam Lee to Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds. Cellist James Gow has played all over the world for many theatre companies, and is a member of Ian Ross’s folk quartet eleven Magpies and a former member of Cocos Lovers.

SYLVIA SCHMIDT is a German vocalist from the three-country corner of Saxony. Since arriving in London in 2008, she has established herself as a versatile soloist (Glasshopper) and an in-demand ensemble musician (White Flower). After launching her intimate Appalachian folk-jazz album ‘As Long As Songbirds Sing’ alongside guitar virtuoso James Kitchman in November, she returns to the Green Note to premiere a set of brand-new original music. Accompanied by accomplished jazz pianist Christian Prior she presents a rich mix of jazz, blues, folk and neo soul.
