Marama Cafe Band play Romanian and Hungarian gypsy music, classic hot club and gypsy swing from the repertoire of Django Rheinhardt/ Stephane Grappelli, French Musette and Chanson, Argentinean tango and the folk music of the British Isles with their own vivacious approach, full of creativity and passion. Their diverse repertoire and tight musicianship has made them a popular feature of London’s thriving music scene with recent sell-out performances at Ealing Jazz Festival and the Romanian Cultural Institute.
Maurizio Minardi – accordion. An Italian composer, pianist and accordionist, he has worked with Carmen Souza, Antonio Forcione, the Royal Shakespeare Company, Maciek Pysz, Asaf Sirkis, Brandon Allen, Quentin Collins, Yuri Goloubev and Georgia Mancio, amongst others.
Frank Biddulph – violin. Works for In Harmony UK, recorded and performed with many jazz and world music artists including El Andaluz and Mukka.
Dave Ahmed – well known on the gypsy jazz scene he plays with many groups including Kings Cross Hot Club, Quecumbar All Stars, and Peter Golding’s Café Django.
Paul Tkachenko – double bass. A versatile and respected bass player and multi-instrumentalist Paul has worked with Kalman Balogh, Cirque du Soleil, and many others.
Wednesday Alexandra Gray – vocals. A mesmerizing and inspired singer equally at home with the French Chanson repertoire and leading her own blues band.
