A Special Invitation…

MICHELE STODART will be celebrating a year anniversary since the release of her award-winning album ‘Invitation’ (‘Remarkable’ – Rolling Stone, ‘intricately arranged…genuinely moving’ – Mojo, ‘beautiful…poignant and evocative’ – Americana-UK, ‘a thing of perfection’ – Folk Radio UK). On October 10th, Michele will be joined by her full band plus special guests at the iconic St. Pancras Old Church to celebrate this album as well as sharing some new songs!

It has been an incredible year for Michele and her music as a solo artist. Following the album release and completing a successful tour of the UK, she was awarded both ‘Album of the Year’ & ‘Artist of the Year’ at the UK Americana Awards in January ‘24. She has since been invited to the US to showcase at Folk Alliance International at Americana Music week in Nashville, as well as various festivals and events around the UK, including the renowned Acoustic stage at Glastonbury Festival.

However, the last few months took an unexpected turn, as Michele ended up in hospital after a spontaneous disc prolapse, which left her suddenly unable to walk, eventually leading to urgent spinal surgery. After a period of rest and recovery, she’s looking forward to returning to the stage. This will be her first London show back with the full band – a special show celebrating not only the anniversary of the album, but also healing, recovery, transformation and the joy of connecting through playing live music.

Hope you can join us for this very special, one-off show!

Michele Stodart is a multi-award-winning singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, producer and musical director. She is best known as bassist, vocalist and co-songwriter of Mercury-nominated, double-platinum selling band, The Magic Numbers, who have released five critically acclaimed studio albums with top ten singles, and supported the likes of Neil Young, Radiohead, Brian Wilson, U2, Flaming Lips and Bright Eyes. She continues to play with the band and tour world-wide with them.

Born in Trinidad, where she spent her early childhood until she and her family fled a military coup attempt, leading them to Queens, New York, and eventually to London, where she is now based. Michele has always pursued her own writing, nurturing a love for Folk, Country and Americana music, and has released three solo albums of her own songs. Her most recent release, Invitation (September 2023) – a confessional, melodic album with an orchestral, cinematic feel – received outstanding critical acclaim and went on to win ‘UK Album of the Year’ at the UK Americana Awards 2024, where Michele also scooped the coveted award for ‘UK Artist of the Year’.

In recent years, Michele divides her time between her work with The Magic Numbers and her solo projects. In between recording and touring, she has also been building a name for herself as musical director, collaborator and producer. She has been invited to curate stages at a number of festivals and events, and curates, hosts and directs an annual multi-artist show celebrating International Women’s Day. In 2022, she received public recognition for her musical talent, when she was awarded the AMA-UK ‘Instrumentalist Of The Year‘ Award. In January 2023 she was invited back as musical director at the UK Americana Awards, where she put together the house band and played with the likes of Mike Scott (of The Waterboys), Allison Russell, and Lifetime Achievement award-winner Judy Collins, who took a moment on stage to compliment Michele on her “incredible” talent.

In 2019, Michele graced our screens in the Danny Boyle / Richard Curtis blockbuster film ‘Yesterday’. She was chosen for her role in the movie due to her melodic bass playing and electric, enigmatic stage presence. Working alongside Boyle, Curtis and musical composer Daniel Pemberton, Michele’s bass and vocals are featured on the Abbey Road Studios movie soundtrack, reinterpreting The Beatles’ most beloved hits.

Michele’s diverse skills have led to many collaborative projects on stage and in the studio with artists such as Kathryn Williams, Billy Bragg, David Ford, Bernard Butler, Natalie Imbruglia, Julian Taylor, Charlie Dore, David Kitt, Hannah White, Rachel Sermanni, Ren Harvieu, Emily Barker, Diana Jones, O’Hooley & Tidow amongst many others.
