Join Small Copper and Lydia Laughing for an afternoon of alternative folk, delving into tales from their roots. A myriad of ancient songs and new compositions will illustrate both the joyous interactions between the musicians as well as their sense of time and place in relation to their past. The acts will be supported by an acoustic trio rendition of new baroque-pop/post-punk band, Rabbitfoot.
Small Copper is a folk duo sharing the voices and sounds of fiddler Laura Hussey and cellist Annie Walton. The pair met playing in string quartets at Guildhall where they studied classically, but together they found freedom and joy in folk music. Inspiration has struck them from unexpected places including tunes Annie’s dad whistles and their shared love of MARINA.
Lydia Laughing is a London-based alternative folk collective comprising of harp, cello, guitar and vocals. Their musical backgrounds, ranging from classical to dream pop to prog and experimental rock, are woven together by their united fascination with traditional tunes, to create a tapestry of sound that feels both new and old.
