THE HACKLES: Hailing from the oldest settlement west of the Rocky Mountains – Astoria on the big Columbia River – The Hackles first made a big impression in the UK in 2019 when they issued their superb album, ‘A Dobritch Did As A Dobritch Should’. The Daily Express called it “gorgeous Americana,” while RnR magazine said it was “magnificent.” Folk Radio UK praised the “intelligent, highly melodic song-writing.”

The made their UK debut in 2023 with a major UK tour that included an appearance at Glasgow’s Celtic Connections. Reviewing that show for Americana UK, respected writer, Paul Kerr said: “the Oregon-based trio, three superb musicians and singers, played a set which was at times almost hypnotic.”

On their home patch, the band are close friends and collaborators of the legendary American folk hero, Michael Hurley, with whom they perform on a regular basis. He invited them to contribute a track on the tribute album, Snockument, which was issued in 2021.

Kati Claborn, Luke Ydstie and Halli Anderson impress with their sumptuous vocal harmonies and writing which has confirmed them as a major force on the Americana/indie-folk circuit.

Their 2023-released “What A Beautiful Thing I Have Made” was widely praised and won them a huge amount of radio exposure. AmericanaUK said: “The title says it all!”
