Multi-instrumentalist VALERIA POZZO began playing violin at a young age. After spending many years developing as a classical musician in her native Italy, Valeria left Venice and moved to London where she started delving into the world of songwriting. In London, Valeria met OSP ELDJARN, a singer and songwriter from a valley in the North of Iceland. The two became great friends immediately and since then, they have performed together several times together touring Iceland and the UK.

Pozzo’s music is born out of her love for storytelling within an intimate and nuanced palette. It brings together melodies inspired by folk, rich harmonic movements and intricate yet tasteful grooves informed by jazz. She takes inspiration from many different artists, from Joni Mitchell to Jeff Buckley and Emiliana Torrini to Becca Stevens.

Eldjárn released her debut album, Tales From a Poplar Tree, in 2017 (where Pozzo plays strings) which was nominated as the Folk Album of the Year at the Icelandic Music Awards. Ösp’s music both reflects the folk songs of her native country and absorbs the artistry of contemporary London songwriting. She carries with her a fine Icelandic tradition of soaring melody, songs of glacial beauty and striking emotional power.

At Green Note, Pozzo and Eldjárn will be performing songs from Ösp’s album as well as songs from Valeria’s upcoming EP.

Doors open 7pm. Music starts 8.30pm.
